Usage Instructions
Connection
Attach the SpO₂ sensor cable to the compatible monitor.
Ensure the connector pins are properly aligned (do not force).
Placement
Adult/pediatric clip type: Place on a clean, warm finger (usually index or middle finger).
Soft wrap / adhesive type: Place according to size on finger, toe, or foot (for neonates).
Ensure the sensor is snug but not too tight-do not restrict blood flow.
Monitoring
Keep the patient's hand/foot still during measurement.
Avoid bright ambient light (direct sunlight, surgical lamps) on the sensor, as it may affect accuracy.
Avoid nail polish, false nails, or dirt on the measurement site.
Duration of Use
Check the sensor site at least every 2 hours for skin integrity, especially in neonates or patients with poor circulation.
Rotate sensor placement if used for long-term monitoring
Cleaning & Disinfection
General Principles:
Always unplug before cleaning.
Do not autoclave, immerse in liquid, or expose to high temperatures.
Use only manufacturer-approved cleaning agents.
Steps:
Surface cleaning
Wipe the sensor with a soft cloth lightly moistened with 70% isopropyl alcohol or a mild soap solution.
Avoid dripping liquid into the sensor window, connector, or cable junctions.
Disinfection
For reusable sensors, wipe with alcohol-based disinfectant wipes (70% isopropyl or ethanol).
Some sensors are compatible with diluted bleach (≤10%) - check manufacturer's instructions first.
Drying
Allow the sensor to air-dry completely before reuse or storage.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Do not use
Harsh solvents (acetone, ammonia, strong acids/alkalis).
Autoclaving, ethylene oxide gas, or gamma radiation (unless explicitly stated by the manufacturer).
