Usage Instructions
1. Connection Setup
Plug the Philips IBP 2-channel cable into the Abbott monitor IBP input port (9-pin or proprietary connector, depending on the model).
Attach the transducer connector (disposable pressure transducer set) to the cable.
Ensure channel mapping:
Channel 1 (IBP1): typically arterial (ART).
Channel 2 (IBP2): typically central venous pressure (CVP) or other line.
2. Transducer Preparation
Flush the disposable pressure transducer with sterile saline.
Remove all air bubbles from the line.
Mount the transducer at phlebostatic axis (4th intercostal space, mid-axillary line).
3. Zeroing & Calibration
On the Abbott monitor, select the IBP channel → Zero to atmosphere before connecting to the patient.
Confirm waveform quality and stable baseline after connection.
4. Monitoring
Connect catheter line (arterial, venous, etc.) to the transducer.
Monitor pressure waveform and numeric values.
Ensure correct labeling on the monitor (ART, CVP, PA, etc.).
Cleaning & Disinfection
The IBP cable is reusable, but transducers are disposable (single-patient use).
1. Routine Cleaning
After use, disconnect the cable from both the monitor and the transducer.
Wipe the cable surface with a soft cloth moistened with mild soap solution.
Alternatively, use 70% isopropyl alcohol wipes.
2. Disinfection
Approved agents: 70% isopropyl alcohol, quaternary ammonium disinfectant wipes, or diluted bleach (≤10%).
Avoid: strong solvents (acetone, ether), autoclaving, or immersion in liquid.
3. Drying & Storage
Air dry completely before coiling and storing.
Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
